
Pir Palandouz Tomb
Pir Palanduz Tomb in Mashhad is one of the important historical and religious sites located near the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS). This tomb belongs to Sheikh Mohammad Aref, who was known as Pir Palanduz because of his occupation. The tomb is located in the northeastern part of the shrine and dates back to the Safavid period. It was built in 985 AH and was registered as one of Iran's national heritage sites in 1977. History & Architecture History: The tomb was built during the reign of Shah Mohammad Khodabandeh, the father of Shah Abbas I of the Safavid dynasty. Architecture: The tomb consists of a square-shaped building with a beautiful brick iwan and an onion-shaped dome. Decoration: The exterior façade is adorned with turquoise-colored mosaic tilework.
